PROJECT OVERVIEW

The City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge is seeking to implement an approximately 3-mile long tram system along the Nicholson Drive corridor, linking downtown Baton Rouge with Louisiana State University. The tram – a modern streetcar – was originally envisioned in FUTUREBR, the City-Parish 2011 comprehensive plan for land use and development, and further defined in the 2014 Nicholson Corridor Plan. The City-Parish completed studies on the preferred alternative and obtained environmental approval from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). This allows the City-Parish to seek additional federal and local funding to complete final design and construction (pending available funding).
