The City-Parish, in coordination with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the TramLinkBR project in conformance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). The EA evaluated the project’s potential social, cultural, economic, environmental and transportation-related impacts and identified measures to avoid, minimize or mitigate those impacts.
The EA was released for public and agency review on June 7, 2016 and comments were obtained through
July 7, 2016. A public meeting displaying the results of the EA and the preferred alternative was held on
June 21, 2016.
After reviewing the EA and its supporting documentation, the Federal Transit Administration issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the project on July 29, 2016. This means there are no significant environmental impacts associated with the construction and operation of the tram project, and the City-Parish is able to conduct final design and construction activities (pending available funding).
